Glascoyne Junction Remote Community School hosted a Pink Stumps Day to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. WesTrac helped by donating prizes that were raffled off, helping the school hit a new fundraising record.
Gascoyne Junction is a small town in the middle of Western Australia. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in heart and community spirit. Every year, Glascoyne Junction Remote Community School (GJRCS), together with a good portion of the town's population of 149 people, rally together to host a Pink Stumps Day that raises funds for the McGrath Foundation - a charity that provides support and education for breast cancer across Australia.
This year's match was held on 2nd November 2019 and saw two teams battle out in the blazing Aussie sun. With a few great catches and monster sixes, the day was a huge success with locals and station workers.
When the team at WesTrac heard about a small town doing big things for those in need, we had to help. We packaged up a bunch of Cat merchandise and sent the packs over to GJRCS to be used as raffle ticket prizes. Lots of other local businesses also pitched in, supported the event and donated prizes, including the Shire of Upper Gascoyne and the Junction Pub & Tourist Park.
When the dust had settled, GJRCS raised $2,034.80 for the McGrath Foundation - their biggest charity haul yet!
Anyone can host a Pink Stumps Day to raise funds. Pink Stumps Day is a way for cricket clubs & teams, schools and workplaces to come together, turn their cricket game pink, have fun and fundraise for the McGrath Foundation – all while showing support for people in the community experiencing breast cancer.
