With our huge inventory of new, used and rental equipment, WesTrac has the right machine for the job.
The WesTrac Team joined a record 1,800 other riders in the MACA Cancer 200 – Ride for Research 2023, cycling 200 kilometres from Perth to Mandurah and returning to the Optus Stadium on Sunday October 15.
Money raised from the WA event will help medical researchers at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research with their life-changing research into finding new treatments and trialling new solutions for cancer patients.
WesTrac Executive General Manager Sales for WA Geoff Bailey says WesTrac is proud to be part of this incredible event for the twelfth year, with this year being the fifth time WesTrac has put a team together for the two-day ride.
“While our legs might be a bit worse for wear, it is heart-warming to see the money raised, more than $160,000, going towards one of WA’s leading research bodies, making it all worthwhile,” Geoff says.
“Two in every five Australians will be faced with a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, but the research conducted by the Harry Perkins Institute could save a cancer patient’s life.
“There’s an undeniable strength in a united group of individuals rallying together for a deeply personal cause, and I’m proud of Team WesTrac for their fundraising efforts and for riding an extraordinary distance.”
WesTrac has engaged with the MACA Cancer 200 – Ride for Research since it first began in 2011, and for the last two years has sponsored the post-ride celebrations at The Camfield in Burswood.
“Helping our local community is a priority for WesTrac and we’re honoured to be a corporate partner for this event, as well as provide a strong team who were focused on raising money for this incredible cause,” Geoff says.
“Everyone knows someone, whether it’s a mother, father, sibling, or a friend who has been impacted by cancer, including one of our team members, Cameron Callaway.
“Cameron will be riding in memory of his close mate and one of our loyal customers Darren, who tragically lost his battle with mesothelioma earlier this year.
“Congratulations to the Harry Perkins Institute for organising another successful ride and to MACA for bringing awareness to the importance of supporting medical research.
“Congratulations also goes to all of the riders for raising a total of more than $8.8 million to help cancer research in Western Australia.”
WesTrac would also like to thank all of our sponsors who helped our riders get across the line, including DiCandilo Steel City, Fire Suppression Services, K&S Heavy Haulage, OTR Tyres, Connect Source, Titan Heavy Lift, Elphinstone, Sign Here Signs, Coopers, Toll Global Express, Fleet Partners, Atom Supply and Chubb.
