I was a lifeguard and duty manager at a few public swimming pools for about 6 years.
WesTrac has a reputation in the industry for offering the best skills and training. That's what I wanted so I could become a qualified diesel mechanic. There were numerous ways I could have achieved that goal, but when people hear you were trained by WesTrac, that means something.
I'm looking forward to gaining new skills and knowledge. Every week it feels like I'm adding a new tool to my kit and it's exciting to know that there is still so much I'll learn over the next few years.
How diverse the Caterpillar product range is and how everything all works together. With numerous product categories and hundreds of models, each being customisable, every day in the apprentice program is different. One day we're learning how to service the undercarriage of a Dozer, next we're discovering how to take a fluid sample from a Motor Grader.
Everyone I've worked with has been very helpful and supportive. I've made a bunch of friends here, both at work and those who I hang out with after work. I go to work smiling every day and that says something.
