WesTrac donates $50k for Telethon 2023

Leading Caterpillar® dealer WesTrac has donated $50,000 during the 2023 Telethon Weekend, as part of the nation-wide fundraiser that helps more than 100 charities support Western Australia’s most unwell children and their families.

Leading Caterpillar® dealer WesTrac has donated $50,000 during the 2023 Telethon Weekend, as part of the nation-wide fundraiser that helps more than 100 charities support Western Australia’s most unwell children and their families.

Over the weekend, 10 WesTrac staff volunteered their time to answer phones at the RAC Arena Call Centre, responding to the many generous WA community members and businesses who were pledging their own funding for the cause.

Among them was WesTrac CEO Jarvas Croome, who joined volunteers at the 24-hour, live television broadcast event on Sunday to announce the Company’s donation.

Mr Croome, who has attended eight consecutive Telethons, said WesTrac was pleased to support such a wide range of charities dedicated to creating better and brighter futures for WA kids.

“The Telethon Weekend is the nation’s largest and most successful fundraising event, and we are proud to not only pledge financial support, but also have such incredible buy-in from our staff,” Mr Croome says.

“I am proud of the WesTrac team who joined hundreds of others to volunteer their time, including in the very early hours of Sunday morning, to assist with this fantastic event.”

Funds raised through Telethon 2023 will support 107 beneficiaries, who are dedicated to helping WA’s most sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Mr Croome said every West Australian would know a child or family impacted by childhood illnesses or diseases, who are supported by one of the many organisations Telethon 2023 is getting behind.

“These charities have a major impact on the lives of these children and their families, whether it be delivering critical services and equipment or developing life-saving medical research,” he says.

“On the weekend it was great to see everyone digging deep and donating to Telethon 2023 – a wonderful cause making a big difference to the lives of our littlest people.”

WesTrac has contributed a total of $400,000 to Telethon over the past eight years and has been an active participant during the marathon weekend event.

Since launching in 1968, Telethon has raised a massive $528 million to support sick children and their families, with the generosity of West Australians become greater each year.

Funds raised by donation are disbursed by the Channel 7 Telethon Trust, a registered charity governed by 11 Trustees including Kerry Stokes AC.
