Western Australians dig deep for Telethon at Perth Tradie Expo

WesTrac has raised $50,000 to help Western Australia’s most sick and vulnerable children, in a company-first initiative at Perth Tradie Expo.

WesTrac has raised $50,000 to help Western Australia’s most sick and vulnerable children, in a company-first initiative at Perth Tradie Expo.

For every new Cat 301.5 Mini Excavator and Cat 216B3 Skid Steer Loader sold with a trailer at the three-day event, WesTrac donated $5,000 to Telethon to help fund research and resources dedicated to finding life-saving treatment and support for child illnesses.

WesTrac Product Manager Simon Bycroft developed the initiative and said the Perth Tradie Expo was the perfect opportunity to help the charity raise much needed funds.

“Perth Tradie Expo is a hotspot for businesses, contractors, tradies, and even DIY enthusiasts, who are looking to invest in new machines ahead of the end of the financial year,” Simon said.

“Last year, we sold multiple new machines at this event so for 2024, WesTrac decided to give customers even more of a reason to dig deep and buy a new machine by matching select purchases with a donation to Telethon.

“Every West Australian knows a child or family impacted by childhood diseases or illnesses, and it was fantastic to see so many attendees at Perth Tradie Expo show their generosity by supporting this incredible cause.”

Channel 7 Telethon Trust General Manager Mark McCrory said WesTrac has been a long-time generous supporter of Telethon over the years.

“Expanding their support through fundraising at the Perth Tradie Expo showcases how WesTrac and its staff are dedicated to making a difference to the lives of sick and vulnerable Western Australian children,” Mark said.

“We are very appreciative of their kindness and support of Telethon."

The 2024 Telethon Weekend will be held on 19 and 20 October at RAC Area, and the 26-hour live event will be broadcast on Channel 7 and 7plus.

This year, WesTrac staff will again volunteer their time at the charity event to help Western Australians dig deep and donate during the marathon weekend.

A record $77.4 million was raised during the event last year and allowed Telethon to support 136 beneficiaries and children’s charities committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Western Australian children.

Funds raised by donation are disbursed by the Channel 7 Telethon Trust, a registered charity governed by 11 Trustees, including Kerry Stokes AC.
